Growing up too fast!!!

I can't believe how big my kiddos are getting. Zain will be 2 months old tomorrow and Hana turned 17 months last week!!

Zain is a little eating monster....I can't imagine how much he is going to weigh at his drs. appt. next week. I'm guessing by then he'll be about 15 pounds. He looks like he is about 4 or 5 months old! It's so sweet because he is now smiling back and oohing and aahing at you when you smile and talk to him. That makes waking up every couple hours with him all worth it! He's really kicking his legs a lot and is ready to get moving....when he has tummy time he gets his legs up under him, but doesn't understand why he won't go...he'll figure out soon enough that he has to move his arms too :)

Hana on the other hand acts like she is about 15 years old! Although you can't understand what she is saying, she has some deep thoughts that she likes to let you know about. She learned how to tell secrets with Daddy too! She's said a few words lately. The other day she pointed up at the fan/light and said, "light"....I was so proud of her. And this morning I had her plate out for her and she pointed at it before she grabbed one, looked at me and asked, "bite?" It was so awesome...I figure she will be talking up a storm not too long from now. We bought her a potty also. She knows what it is and likes to sit on it. Although we are just having fun with it right now because she is still too small to really understand. But she is starting to point at her diaper after she's gone in it. So that is a wonderful start.....

Thaer is doing so so. He is still really sore from having the neurostimulator put in his back last week, but he's already returned back to work and is pushing on. I don't know what I would do without him. He helps out so much even after getting up and going to work at 5am and not getting home til around 4pm....Hopefully soon we will be able to get Zain a crib and get him out of our bed so maybe Thaer and I can sleep in the same room!

I am doing well, just same ol same ol. Get up, change diapers, feed kids, do laundry, do dishes, put Hana down for nap, get Hana up from nap, change diapers, lunch, play, put Hana down for afternoon nap, get Hana up from nap, change diapers, play, Daddy comes home, dinner at 630p, baths, and bedtime at 8pm...then we have Zain...he still isn't on a schedule and we won't start pushing one for another month or 2....right now he's just "on demand"....But....I've lost more weight!!! I'm down 25 pounds in 8 weeks! Woo Hoo! Only 15 more to go!

Thanks for checking in.....

Update on us since Zain was born...

Hello!! Long time, no hear...I know, I know...but if you were at our house, you'd really understand...

My goodness, I can't believe that I have a 5 week old and a 16 month old!!! Life is hectic.

Zain is doing pretty good. He's getting so big. At his checkup at 5 weeks, he was a whopping 12 pounds 4 oz and 23 3/4 inches!!!! He's a good baby. He does have some tummy issues and he seems to have a touch of colic. That's been really hard. He will only sleep at most 3 hours during the night. And during the day he wants to be held when he sleeps and the second you put him down, he's wide eyed and wondering what the heck you are doing putting him down. But we wouldn't trade him for the world. Hana absolutely adores her little brother. We've had no jealousy issues except when she is sleepy and he is nursing, then she wants to nurse, but she patiently waits her turn...she loves to give him hugs and kisses.

Hana is doing great. She's getting so big. She knows more body parts and has some animal sounds down...it's too funny to watch her expressions. But, she's turned into a daddy's girl recently and doesn't want Thaer to even be near Zain. She'll hold his legs and whines for him to pick her up....rotten child :) She has finally learned to like the grass, so she now will play outside in it. Last weekend when Thaer was mowing, she was following behind him waiting for him to give her a ride...it's too adorable. On Saturday was her first time to play in her inflatable pool. Even though the water was super cold, she didn't want to get out. She also started to drink out of a big girl cup this weekend. We found that one out by her playing with a cup in the pool and filling it with water and drinking it....cutie pie. When we took her to the dr. for her 15 month checkup, she was 32 inches long (90th percentile) and weighed in at 23 pounds (50th percentile)...so she is my healthy girl. She's just getting so big I wonder where the time went. It seems like in the last few weeks she's grown up soooo much. She's not a baby anymore. :(

I am doing well. At my 4 week post partum checkup everything was great and I was down 20 pounds from the 40 that I gained during the pregnancy....I am super excited about that. I just hope I can get the rest off without having to eat healthy or excercise :), because that will never happen...I've just been a little overwhelmed at times having the two alone during the day. Especially being so drained because Zain doesn't sleep well at night. Zain sleeps in the bed with me and poor Thaer sleeps on the floor. We've got to get him a crib and moved out of our room soon.

Thaer is doing well. He just runs on fumes. He finished his classroom portion of the 6 Sigma Blackbelt course and is almost finished with one project and will only have one more project to do after that til he gets his certification. On Monday the 13th he will finally be getting that neurostimulator permanently placed in his back. They didn't want to do it any sooner since we had the baby. He'll probably be out of work for 3 or 4 days. Hopefully all goes well and it will work well for him. The temporary one did, so we are confident that this will do well also. It should last about 10 years.

I think that is about it with us. Just busy with the kiddos that we hardly have time to breathe. But it is getting easier. Just say a little prayer that little man Zain starts sleeping through the night soon, we all need our rest!!

Thanks for checking in on us! I will try to post more frequently!!

Zain Thaer Yousef

I know that it has been forever and for that I am sorry, but it's been hectic with the 2 of them. I wanted to post his birth story really quickly though... Zain was due on Monday, May 18, 2009...that day came and went and on May 21st we went and had an u/s and the dr. told us that he was 9 pounds and we needed to induce the next day and to be at the hospital at 5pm.... We got to the hospital at 430p with Hana in tow and they told us that it was going to be about 15 mins to get the rooms cleaned up and maybe we should grab something to eat....well, 1 1/2 hours later I was finally getting in my room. So when they took my blood pressure it was way up....I was so agitated at that point. Well, they checked me, no dilation but cervix was softening....so they put in the Cervadil and the waiting game started....I started having contractions really regular a few hours later, but they were manageable....Luckily though I had no back labor like I did with Hana....Thank God! I didn't sleep through the night because I was trying to get through the contractions....They were every 2 to 3 mins from about 10p on....At 6a they checked me and I was at a 3 I think...They didn't want to start the Pitocin since I was contracting on my own, but got the dr. in there to give me some Diloden for the pain...it helped a lot....but the contractions were getting stronger so at around 10 am I got my epidural. Anyways, they started my Pitocin drip around 1245p and at about 330p I was at an 8 and needed a boost for my epidural. They came in at 430p and said I needed to start pushing and in 5 contractions at 449pm on May 23rd, 2009 Zain was born weighing in at a whopping 9 pounds 6 oz and was 21 1/2 inches long....He was a big boy!!!! Hana was only 7 pounds 2oz and 19 1/2 inches....But he is a very healthy little boy and by day 5 he was already back up to his birth weight.

Here are a few pics from when he was only a few days old.....

I will update on another post!!!

Due Date: Come and Gone

Sorry I haven't updated, but as you can tell by the title, I'm still pregnant. My due date was Monday, May 18th! I told my dr. that God must have given me a nice uterus because these babies just love getting a little extra crispy in the oven. Hana was 9 days late and she had to be evicted and this one is looking about the same. We are hoping though that she will induce either on Friday or Saturday, but we won't know until tomorrow. Tomorrow we have an ultrasound to determine his size and to check the fluid level. Then after that I go to my OB and she will be doing a non stress test to make sure that he is nice an comfy and not in distress. After that we will decide on when he will be given his notice of eviction.

Other than that, we are doing well. Hana is getting more and more rotten by the day. The past few days though she has been throwing a some new tantrums. I think she has an idea that something big is about to happen. She is also not wanting to eat as well as she had been. It's a task to get her to eat. This morning it took me about 40 mins. to get her to eat all of her breakfast. But she's a pretty happy 15 month old.

Thaer is doing well. He finished up his next to last week of class yesterday, which is great that the baby didn't come during that week. His last class will be June 22nd. Then he will have to complete 2 major projects and get them put into place at his plant before he will get his 6 Sigma Blackbelt License. So, it'll take about another 6 months or so before he gets that. Health wise he will be getting the permenant neurostimulator put in his back in June or the beginning of July. He wanted to wait until after we had the baby so he can help me out around the house. What a wonderful guy!

Other than that, we are just on standby. I've just been trying to get the house in order and have food stocked up for at least a week so then we don't have to worry about going to the grocery store immediatley after the baby is born.

Well, I guess I will update you all tomorrow or Friday after our appts.!!

Haven't posted in a week...

Not much action around the Yousef household lately. Just enjoying the weather that we've been having! It's been in the 60's and 70's. It's so much nicer than having to look at snow!!!

We've just been trying to do little bits around the house before little man shows up. I finally got all of his clothes washed yesterday! Now I just need to wash his bassinet stuff and get the car seat sterilized (it's been in the garage for a few months). So nothing too fun.

Hana banana is doing well. She's as rotten as ever. She's standing here next to me now just talking away. Too bad I can not understand what she is saying! She hates it when I get online for a few mins. a day...she thinks all of the attention should be on her at all times!!! She pulls my hands off of the keyboard. She's going to be in for a rude awakening in a couple weeks or less when her little brother shows up!!

Thaer is doing well. He's going to wait til June to get the permanent neurostimulator placed in his back, just because we don't know when I am going into labor and he's going to have to take a few days off from work and he's got class next week. He's been working so hard that it seems like we hardly see each other. He's been helping me out a ton when he gets home from work by doing dishes and taking care of Hana. He's such a wonderful husband and dad!!

As for me, I am doing okay. I was hurting pretty badly yesterday and last night and a little this morning. I'm hoping that he'll stay put until the 20th, for scheduling reasons! :) I have an appt. tomorrow so we'll see if these contractions have been doing anything. I haven't had a check in about 2 weeks, so we'll see how much I am progressing.

Well, the little monster is trying to push buttons, so I'll make this one short and sweet for now...

Hana's first play date

Hana had her very first play date with a little girl named Tessa. Tessa and Hana were both born in Feb. They played on the swings and then in the sandbox and at the park that we were at there were animals to look at. There were sheep, turkeys, ducks and bunnies. The girls played next to each other but not really together. Maybe next time they will be able to play more together...Tessa can't walk yet, so Hana was wanting to run around, but she couldn't. Oh and Hana tried to take away Tessa's shovel, but when she wouldn't give it up, Hana started squeezing her arm!! I had to move them arms length away from each other, but after she got that out of her system, they were great!!

Here are a few pics of the girls!

Just a quick update.....

I know it's been awhile since I updated, but not too much has been going on until this past Monday.

On Monday, Thaer had the temporary neurostimulator placed in his back. He only has it in there for a week to see if he likes it. But they did have to make small incisions in his back to place two leads in his back. He has a remote that controls the intensity of the stimulation. So far, he likes it and it is working, but he is just uncomfortable from the incisions. He will go back this next Monday and have it removed. He'll wait a week to make sure that there is no infection and then he'll have the permanent one put in after that. We are hoping to get the permenant one placed in before I have the baby.

He also started his second week of his Six Sigma Blackbelt Training. All is going well with that, but it is a lot of work for him. But he will benefit greatly when he finishes these classes. I'm still so proud of him for working so hard to make our lives better.

As for me, I went and had my 36 week 1 day checkup yesterday. My cervix is starting to soften and he is head down. All looks wonderfully. One thing that Thaer and I didn't want to hear was when the dr. said, "It could be any day now!"....We weren't prepared to hear her say that. I am ready to not be pregnant anymore, but I am so worried about bringing a new little one home. It's so scary not knowing how things will change.

Hana is doing well. Rotten as ever. I can't believe how big she is getting. I often sit and watch her play and it still seems so sereal that she is really mine. She's changed our lives for the better and I can't imagine our life without her.

Okay, enough of my mushiness. Here is what everyone really wants, a few pics of Hana...

First time visiting the zoo....

Hana on the phone with Grandma.

The light was shining through the window and she was trying to pick it up off the floor.

My smiley little monkey!

She got stuck sitting in her Bumbo seat that she is way too big for....

Went to the zoo.....

On Sunday, Thaer, Hana and I went to the Detroit Zoo for the first time as a family. Hana and I had never been. It was a nice day out, finally. It was about 55 degrees out and sunny! There were hardly any people there, which made it extra nice!! We spent about 3 hours there and Hana liked to see the animals, well, actually I think that Thaer and I enjoyed it more than she did. It was a ton of walking, which was really good. I think that next year we will be buying a family membership! I will post a few pics when I get them uploaded from my camera!

Quick Update...

Not too much going on around the Yousef household.

Hana has finally gotten back on her sleeping routine...she wakes a few times at night but is able to soothe herself back to sleep, except when Daddy hears her and then he likes to go in there and comfort her. She is just growing so fast, it's amazing. She loves it when Daddy gets home because then she gets to REALLY play...I'm just getting so big that it's getting really hard for me to even move!

I have an appt. a week from today. Now we will start to see if my body is getting ready!! These are the exciting appts. The past few days it seems like my morning sickness has made it's way back....yuck. But I've been throwing up at night, well around midnight and staying nauseous after I eat anything...and heartburn is no fun either...I've never had it before until about a couple months ago. So fun fun stuff for me.

Thaer will be having his temporary neurostimulator put in on Monday. He will have it in for a week and then decide whether or not he likes it. It will probably help so much that he'll get the permanent one put in soon after. Let's just hope that they can get him in before I deliver. He also went back to the dr. about his knee and he had fluid build up so they drained it and gave him another shot. His dr. says that he has more torn ligaments in it and will need surgery....poor guy. He had knee surgery in Feb. 2007 and needs it again on the same knee. And after his seizure last year, he needs to have shoulder surgery soon and then is getting this neurostimulator put in...and to think that he is only 30 years old...he's falling apart on me!!

That's about it for us. I will update if something exciting happens.

No more need for a pacifier....

The only good thing to come out of the last week of misery and teething is that Hana no longer wants her pacifier. Her mouth was hurting so bad from being swollen that she couldn't suck on it. Thankfully, she hasn't wanted it since. She only used it to sleep with, and now I don't have to worry about it falling out of her mouth and her waking up wanting it!!!! I thought that we were going to have a rough time taking it away from her, so I am so glad that she did it on her own!!!!

Hana is finally feeling better

I thought that she was never going to get back to her normal happy self, but she is well on her way now. Last night she finally slept. She slept for 7 hours straight!!! After having to get up with her every hour for 7 days, it was about time. So let's hope that this continues.

2 of her molars have finally pushed through the skin and that has given her much relief, enough so that I didn't have to give her anymore Tylenol/Motrin.

On Sunday though we woke up and decided that she might have an infection in her mouth, so I took her to our dr. and low and behold she has thrush. But at least it is fairly easy to fix. She has to be given an antibiotic 4 times a day for 14 days.

I have an OB appt. on Thursday....As of today, I only have 41 days til my due date. Hopefully I make it that far, because we are so not ready for this little guy to make his appearance. We still do not have a name picked out, but I guess it's not too bad because we didn't with Hana either until she made her appearance.

Oh, one more thing...I really really really dislike Michigan weather....On Friday it was so pretty out that Hana and I went outside and played with rocks for an hour and then of course yesterday morning we got about 6 inches of snow and it is snowing out now!!!!!!!!!! This is when I really miss that Texas heat!

Finally starting to feel better....

Since Monday my poor Hana has been running a temperature from her teething. It's been a roller coaster of a ride these past few days...I was having to giver her Tylenol every 4 hours and she was very cranky and tired and wouldn't sleep well at all...Since Monday, Thaer and I probably have gotten 12 hours of sleep. Yeah, not so fun. But luckily this morning she woke up without a fever!!!

This is the first time in her life that she's had a fever. Luckily it wasn't because she was ill...we were extremely blessed with a very healthy child. I can only hope for this next one to be as healthy as her.

She is still not herself today, but hopefully by this evening she'll be better and hopefully she'll sleep tonight. I can tell that she might have lost a little weight from her mouth hurting and just not feeling good, so my goal now is to get that weight put back on her....she's eating well today though...she's already had pancakes and Cheerios and now having a few graham crackers!!! So I know she's feeling better!!!

A few pics of Hana

Hana enjoying her spaghetti!! YUMMY!!!

She found a new playing spot under the side table!

If you ask her where her nose is, this is the face you get :)

Her hair has been getting long in the front, so we had to find her a new hairstyle!

My 32 1/2 week OB appt.

I had my appt. yesterday and all is well. Baby boy Yousef is growing as he is supposed to. His hearbeat is great! I gained another 3 pounds in 2 weeks....gosh, I had better let up on all those Little Debbie Snacks and fudge! :) But it's all so yummy. So nothing fun and exciting happened. Another appt. in 2 weeks!

So many teeth & other updates

Oh man!! Hana has 3 bottom teeth coming in at the same time and she's so moody.....it's driving me insane. She's normally not a cranky girl, but for the past couple of days when she's not getting what she wants, she cries and goes and sits in the floor. Hopefully it's just the teeth and not a sign of things to come in the future!!!!

Today Thaer started his class for his Six Sigma Blackbelt...so it's a good day for him. We are all so very proud of him!! It's extremely hard to be chosen for these classes. I was so excited, that I went to Target yesterday and got him a new notebook and highlighters!! hehehe..

As for me, I'm exhausted. I think I have like 54 days left til my due date! Last night I got about 4 hours of broken sleep because Hana kept waking with her mouth hurting. I've been attempting to really clean the kitchen (like scrubbing down all the appliances) and it took its toll on my back...I think I pulled something! I also hurt my knee a few days ago, don't know how it happened, but everytime I bend it a sharp pain radiates....So it makes it hard for when I put Hana to sleep because I sit in the floor indian style with her and rock her.....picture me trying to get up out of the floor with a sleeping baby and no hands to help myself up! It's kind of like a camel trying to stand up!!!!!

Tomorrow I have my 32 1/2 week OB appt. I will update about baby boy when I get done there!!!

Big things for Thaer!!

I have great news...we found out yesterday that Thaer is one of very few people to start a Six Sigma Blackbelt class. What this means is that he goes to this class for 4 weeks...well it's in 1 week increments and once he has completed it he will have a prestigious certification almost as if he had gotten a second degree!!! This is awesome news for our family and it means that he will at least have his job guaranteed through the next round of cuts soon to come. But it is an extremely hard class, almost like College AP Statistics. Gosh, glad it's him and not me!! Statistics was a really hard course for me. But we are so excited and so proud of him!!!!

A few pictures

We went on Saturday the 14th to have some pictures taken since we hadn't had any "professionally" taken before. Hana loved having her picture taken.
